The beautiful Heceta Head Lighthouse is very special to me. My great-great-grandfather had the urge to head west from Kansas and ended up in Oregon where he worked to build this lighthouse.

This was my first view of the structure and its wonderful beam of light. Here it is seen with an exposure a bit over two minutes on a misty night.

not sure how this one slipped by me! i just got back from shooting this lighthouse... mines a pretty standard issue sunset shot, but this is really cool and unique. very awesome that you have family history tied to it as well!

An amazing picture of a place that has a meaningful place in my heart as well.

My grandparents and I used to travel to the Oregon Coast a few times every year, and we'd often stop by Heceta Head. I have many great memories of that lighthouse and the surrounding area.
