At the southern tip of St. John in Virgin Islands National Park is a cool little peninsula of land called Ram Head. After hiking a sun-soaked trail, you end up several hundred feet above the crashing Caribbean sea on a solid chunk of rock. Scattered cactus and agave cling to the xeric landscape as you look back on the lush gallery forests of the island interior.

Interesting. Do you know if those cacti are naturally occurring or if they were introduced to the the island?

Turks Head Cactus are native to the U.S. Virgin Islands and several other Caribbean islands.

Sweet cacti! They kind of look like they've been grafted.

So did I, but the mosquitoes were insane! I hit the island after several weeks of rain...and the bugs were ready for me on the interior trails!
