This was one of the most unusual sunsets that I've ever witnessed. It was a very gray afternoon with no direct sunset so I wasn't expecting anything at all. In fact I was simply birding the beach with binoculars when I noticed the reds starting to pop after sunset. I raced back to get a tripod and worked a few compositions in the late dusk light. The way that the sky was reflecting red on the water was amazing! I would have given anything for a more scenic beach, but this was about as much as I could pull out of the sand with thick mangroves on the backside. Sanibel Island is visible on the right in the background.
